First Day of Autumn & A Nature Walk

Thursday, September 23, 2010 - The First Day of Autumn.
We took a nature walk this morning. It only differed from our usual walks in that we were closely observing the nature that is all around us. It is amazing how much we miss when we are not being purposeful. We were looking for signs that autumn is here. We saw lots of seeds, a few leaves changing color, but still lots of insects. After our walk, the children sketched what they saw on paper (see the picture at the end of the post).

Our beautiful Emily.
She found an abandoned bird nest for us to look at.

Samuel's first nature walk and he found a rock!

Noah is sketching what he saw on our walk.

Abigail found a dandelion.

Hannah found a pinecone.

Just call him "Bambam"! LOL

I love this picture! Our oldest and our youngest.

The girls were blowing a dandelion away.

Emily was taking some grass to the neighbors' horse.

Abigail has always been a very observant girl.
She found this teeny tiny little flower by the fence.

Seth braved the thorns to get this pretty purple thistle.

"Autumn Sketches"

I was having fun taking pictures of the children.
