We enjoyed a wonderful Memorial Day this year. The first thing we did was go to the Memorial Day Service in town, like we did last year. It's always a sobering reminder of the price that has been paid for our freedoms and the great privilege we have to live in this country. It is boring for the littlest ones, but I want our children to grow up understanding the responsibility they have as citizens of the United States to take care of the freedoms we have and not take them for granted. I want them to realize that sacrifice is not just something they read about in their history books, but that it is happening every day even now so that we can live our lives the way we feel God has called us to live them.

After the service and a couple of quick stops in town, we headed home to prepare for our cookout with family and friends. We started about 3pm and the last of our family left for home about 8 pm. What an enjoyable time of food and fellowship we had! We are so thankful for the ones who came and especially for the help grilling the food (Thank you, Mandy and Aaron!) since I burned myself starting the grill. Yikes! We let the children play in the water as it was a very hot day. Mandy and Aaron brought these cool water toys that squirt water but they're not water guns. They were so much fun! Several of the adults ended up wet! LOL
