May Birthday Party

When we found out that Nana and Papaw were going to be at our home near the first part of May, we decided to have a joint birthday party for Abby and Noah. Papaw and Nana aren't around much for birthdays, so it made it extra special for the children. Then, it worked out for Jeremiah's sister and her family to be here, also, and I invited some dear friends from church to join us. Add to that, a couple of my sisters and Great-Grandpa and his friend, Alice, and we had quite a celebration! LOL It was a beautiful day. We ate picnic type foods and then headed outside to play croquet. After that, we went back inside for cake and gifts. Abby and Noah were so blessed by our generous family and friends. Thank you all so much! I was able to get the party dress finished for Abigail. She had picked out the fabric and helped sew the buttons.

Jessie and Rachel staying warm in the sun.

On Friday night, Abby's actual birthday, we let her open two of her gifts. Some little reading books and a photo notebook. It has a photo of her on our neighbor's horse when she was 2.

Samuel always enjoys being outside and getting attention.

Abby seems to be enjoying her books. I've been looking for ways to encourage them in the things of God in more of the everyday parts of life. These books are perfect and they are for beginning readers, too.

Papaw and Lynneah golfing.

Bro. Glenn and Seth laying out the croquet field.

Sweet Baby Ben and Nana.

Great-Grandpa Mac taking the young and the young-at-heart for a ride.
He took them down the hill behind the house and they had to start bailing out so the mower would make it back up the hill! LOL

Mrs. Eula, a friend from church.

One of Noah's birthday gifts...a little golf set.
We gave him this in anticipation of playing croquet at the party.

They look like they're waiting on the golf pros, don't they? LOL

Abby was so pleased with her 'party dress'. It may seem odd, but I loved seeing her playing croquet in the yard in it. It puts me in the mind of Victorian Ladies.

Time to open gifts!

We don't normally buy cakes, but this year, with everything else going on, we did.
