1st Day of Summer Fun

We celebrated the First Day of Summer on Monday with our annual family fun day and homemade ice cream. We started this three years ago and it has become something that we all anticipate with much excitement. Jeremiah even took a vacation day from work this year to stay home and play with us. It was great!
We had a nice breakfast and after chores and family Bible time, we started making the ice cream. It was really 'from scratch' as we had to cook it and everything before we could mix it! Boy, was it yummy, though.
After we got that mixing, we went outside to play in the water. We had water balloons, water guns and the water hose and very shortly all of us were soaking wet. What a great time we had!
Our afternoon was quiet. We came in and got dry, ate lunch and cleaned up. The little ones had naps and we just chilled.
The girls and I ran to Ladies' Meeting at church for a little bit and after we returned home, we had our ice cream. Then we headed outside to catch fireflies and enjoy the evening. The children were anxious to see the bats and they also spotted a deer down the hill. We've seen quite a few of them down our hill this year.
At the end of the day, Noah said that he had "Super Fun!"
Thank you, Lord, for the time of bonding and fun with our children.

We had fun making tie-dyed shirts with Katie a couple of weeks ago.

She's got skillz, doesn't she? LOL Reading and whisking eggs at the same time.

We absolutely LOVED having Daddy home this year to play with us.

Cooking the custard base for our ice cream.

Filling up the water balloons.

Lookie what I have!

After all the water balloons had been thrown, Abby realized that there were several that hadn't popped, so she went around collecting them. She's a smart girl.

I think he was squirting the toad with the water gun.

Sharp-shooter Em

"Watch out, Seth!"
Do you see what he's holding? EWWWW!

Daddy took this photo - I LOVE IT!

Our children love buckets of water!

Even Samuel got a bucket when he got up from his nap.

More water fun!

Enjoying our homemade Chocolate Candies (M&M) Ice Cream. It wasn't even a mix, we mixed the sugar and milk and eggs and cooked it ourselves. Boy, it was good!

I love how the humidity makes her curls even curlier! I know she probably won't like that when she's older. It's so cute now, though.

Girlies having fun on the back deck

Each one of our children are special and unique, however,
I see many similarities in Emily's and Hannah's personalities.
