He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread...
Proverbs 12:11a
Well, here we are again. Our hands full of seeds and our hearts full of hope. We are a little bit more ambitious this year. Here is what we are planting.
- 7 tomato plants
- 1 row of pickling cucumbers (I have no idea how long the row is! LOL)
- 1 row of watermelon and cantaloupe
- 1 row of okra
- 1 row of corn
- 2 rows of pole beans
- some squash (forgot to plant those today, oops!)
- some bell peppers (need to buy those plants soon.)
- a few onions
It doesn't appear to be much, but I think it will be a nice little garden, if everything comes up. Most importantly, it's all food that we will eat!
Back in March we planted some lettuce and spinach. Well, the rabbits had a nice meal or two!
Didn't have a fence up or any protection from the rabbits. Oh, well.
Maybe in the fall we can try again for lettuce.

We have to keep Samuel in the playpen while we are outside because he eats everything he picks up and now that he's crawling, he won't stay on a blanket.
Emily wanted to run the tiller. It was still a little much for her to handle, but she did a good job.
Transplanting the tomatoes. We have 3 Rutger, 2 Grape and 2 of another kind.
Planting cukes. Rachel insisted on a full row, so we may have them coming out our ears!
Noah was watering the newly planted seeds and the little tomato plants. They looked awesome! Rachel and Heath did an incredible job starting these from seeds indoors.
Hannah surveying the garden.
Abigail planting watermelon seeds.
