Swing Set Makeover (Day 3)

I am a day behind on posting pictures of our progress. On Monday, Papaw, myself and some of the chidren worked to get the ladder on the back of the play deck. Then, we had to run back to town to get some more lumber, bolts and other supplies. That really ate up a chunk of our afternoon but we were able to get almost all of the swing hangers attached to the beam and Jeremiah and his dad made the templates for the brackets. Jeremiah was able to get them made at work with some of the scrap metal they normally throw away.

Getting started on the ladder.

Setting the posts for the ladder.
We sloped it and left spaces between the rungs to make it easier on the little ones to climb.

Emily has been Papaw's faithful "gopher" on this job.
Here they are attaching the steps to the ladder.

Getting ready to place the swing hangers.

Discussing the bots they would use for the swing hangers and how to space the swings.

Attaching the swing hangers to the swing beam.
We chose the heavy-duty hangers so (hopefully) they will last.

After his nap, Samuel came out to check on the progress.
We let him "help."

There was more discussion on Monday than building! LOL
